Annie M. Godfrey

December 21, 1945 — August 15, 2021

Annie Margaret Godfrey, 75, of Cincinnati, Ohio departed this life on Sunday, August 15, 2021. She was born in Autauga County, Alabama to the late Claude Sr., and Jessie Maul. She confessed Christ early on in her life. Annie was a long-time member of Golden Gate Baptist Church. She never met a stranger, and she would light up any room with her presence and presentation of her knowledge and wisdom. She was a prayer warrior in the midnight hours. Annie was never afraid to allow God to use her as she spoke into many people's lives. She was anointed and appointed to do the work of the Lord and it gave her great pleasure to do so. Annie attended school in Birmingham, Ala. School System and with God's guidance, grace, and mercy she became the Matriarch of our family. If you were family, a friend, or sometimes a stranger that had a need; without hesitation or a shadow of doubt: She was always willing to lead, instruct, advise and provide, etc. Annie worked hard with anything she set out to do at an early age at Birmingham, Ala Stove & Range and later at Abbott's Linen in Cincinnati, OH. Annie leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Blessings (Lamar) Foster and Karen (Delmar) Turner; sons, Fulton (Linda) Godfrey, Jr., Bernard (Linda) Godfrey, and Darryl (Carolyn) Godfrey; sisters, Marybelle B. Gill, Corline Stone, Thelma (Willie Earl) Noland, and Mattie Maul; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Thomas Maul; two special nieces, Doerita Maul and Tamiko Stone; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fulton Godfrey, Sr.; daughter, Christa Renee Godfrey; two brothers, Thomas and Claude Jr. Maul; five sisters, Eunice Tyus, Irene Sawyer, Aslee Hayes, Carrie Maul, and Idell Growder. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the House of Hope Fellowship Church, 1829 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. Interment: Vine St. Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
