Brenda Lee Bowen, 71, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022. She was born on July 5, 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James H. Payne and Bertha L. Anderson. She attended Hughes High School and graduated on June 12, 1968. Brenda married James Bowen October 1, 1977 and from their union two children were born, Troy M. Bowen and Brenda Lee Bowen. She worked for AT&T for 30 years of service before retiring. Brenda also worked at SaMar for 10 years after her initial retirement. Brenda was a loving wife, loving mother, grandmother, loving sister, aunt and friend. She loved to be around her family and friends and never met a stranger. Brenda was the key that kept her family together. She loved to listen to music, dance, craft, and cook. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory: son, Troy M. Bowen; stepson, James Smith; three stepdaughters, Denise Washington, Anita Robinson and Robin; granddaughter, Charletta “Tutu” Cohen; grandson, Keenan Ruff; two brothers-in-law, Robert Lee and Terrie; eight brothers: Charles (Betty) Payne, James Payne, Ronald (Kim) Payne, Donald (Vanessa) Payne, Leroy Payne, Henry Payne, Hubert (Joann) Payne, and Robert (Pat) Payne; three sisters, Bessie Bush, Linda (William Crawford) and Rowena (Tyrone) Marshall; and a host of loving family and friends. In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, James Bowen; brother, William Martin; sisters, Hattie Mae Wiley and Alice Payne; stepdaughters, Charletta Washington and Shell; one stepson; sisters-in-law, Christine Payne, Cynthia Payne, and Rita Payne; and brother-in-law, Albert Bush. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022 at St. Mark A.M.E Church, 9208 Daly Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
