Cathleen F. McCarter

August 5, 1959 — February 12, 2025

Cathleen Faye McCarter (Cathie), 65, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025. She was born in Cincinnati on August 5, 1959, to the blessed union of Arthur and Florine Coleman. Cathie grew up in Madisonville with her eight siblings. She attended Rockdale elementary, Lyon Junior High and Hughes High School where she was class of 1977. She grew to be a great woman of faith, and it showed through her activeness in church where she became a member at Jerriel Missionary Baptist church and later became a member of New Friendship Baptist Church.

Cathie was an outgoing, fun, funny and caring person. She loved to laugh, dance and have a good time. In fact, she met the love of her life; Willie J McCarter(Jake), at a party in 1979, they later became inseparable and raised 3 wonderful children together (Steven, Lakeshia, Lamita). She loved caring for others and seeing those around her happy. She went to cosmetology school and often used her kids and nieces as models in which they all loved so much. She dedicated herself to caring for her mother when she became ill, up until the time she went on to glory in 2000. After that she spent many years working as a CNA at Cedar Village Retirement Community. Cathie then married the love of her life Willie J. McCarter in 2005 in a small chapel in Vegas. Cathie loved her family and cherished nothing more than spending time with them creating memories. She loved to take photos of everyone and capture the fun moments we shared. She had enough photos to be a photographer!

She found joy in seeing her loved ones happy, she loved to get together at least once a month for a good ol family fish fry and some well-needed family time. She loved sitting around cracking jokes or laughing at everyone telling jokes to one another. Just as much as she liked to be happy and have a good time, don’t get it twisted because she didn’t take no mess and would get with anyone about trying her or her family. She prayed and asked for forgiveness afterwards though. She had a love for fashion and would make sure her outfits matched from head to toe, from the color she chose to dye her hair, to her hair accessories, to the shoes on her feet, and the color of polish on her nails and toes. Even her glasses would match! Her favorite color was purple, but she loved other colors as well. Whenever she found a shoe, she liked she had to have it in every color it came in, she loved shopping and was always excited to shower her kids and grandkids with wonderful and meaningful gifts. If nothing else, one thing for sure Cathie will surely be missed, her laugh, her smile and her sweet soul. She touched many lives, and her spirit will live on through each one of us.

Cathie went on to be with her parents (Arthur & Florine), her sister (Rose), and her great grandson (PJ). Still here to carry out her honorable memories are her dear husband, Jake; her three children, Steven (Brittany), Lakeshia, and Lamita; her grandchildren: Jasmine, Terrance, Steven Jr., Tiffiany, Breonna, Genesis, Jeremiah, Josiah, Brooklyn, Elijah, and Aiden; 11 great-grandchildren: Karter, Kamari, Kahlani, Steven III, Kyrin, Kamari, Kamiyah, Khari, Atlas, Aries, and Amari; seven siblings: Mattie, Mike, Kim, Arthur, Denise, Dennis (Donna), and Robert; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends.

Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
