Charles D. Childress, Sr.

Charles (Chuck) Douglas Childress, Sr., 57, a roofer and life-long resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, died suddenly Friday, November 27, 2020 at The University of Cincinnati Hospital awaiting surgery. He was born in Cincinnati on September 12, 1963 to Joan Skidmore. He grew up in Camp Washington. Chuck loved to play basketball, football, and baseball or softball. He was an avid sports fan and no matter how bad his teams were doing he stayed a devoted fan. Chuck was a good friend, a good uncle, a playful father, and a protective and loving husband. He spent most of his adult life roofing and was proud of the work he did. One of his favorite past times was to smoke some weed, drink some beer, and watch football. Chuck loved to have fun and party and that was how he spent his life. He was funny and playful. Chuck never met a stranger; he’d talk to everyone he met like he knew them for years and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Chuck leaves to cherish his memory: his adopted mother, Glenda Compton; children, Billi Childress, Charles Douglas Childress Jr., Jack Turner, and Russell Childress; stepchildren, Darl Wayne Messer III and Bethany Renee Messer; his ex-wife, Lisa Faye Childress (nee Carmen); five grandchildren, Ryan Jameson Maggard, Arimae Rhiannon Childress, Melanie Rose Haire, Blake Robert Childress, and an unborn grandchild; and a host of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents; mother, Joan Skidmore; stepfather, Paul Skidmore; and siblings, Jackie Compton, Melissa Compton, Tonya Compton, and Terry Compton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at James Temple Annex, 1119 Lincoln Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206.
