Cheryl Janice Lloyd

Cheryl Janice Lloyd, 69, of Springfield, Ohio, a loving mother of five children, transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. Cheryl was born August 28, 1951, in Lansing, Michigan, the eldest of six children to Elder Raymond E., Sr. and Sister Elmira Lloyd. In 1953, Elder Lloyd accepted the pastorate of El Bethel Temple, Springfield, Ohio. Cheryl remained in Michigan with her grandmother, Lillie Lloyd Williams, while Elder and Sister Lloyd adjusted to their new role. In joining her family in Springfield, Cheryl attended Fulton and Elmwood Elementary Schools, Schafer Junior High, graduating from Springfield South High in 1970. She married and gave birth to five children; living in New York, Virginia, Florida, California and Connecticut before returning to Springfield, Ohio. Cheryl grew up attending El Bethel Temple under the leadership of her father. She also spent many summers in Port Huron, Michigan again bonding with her grandmother and cousins. As a young teen, she was baptized in Jesus' Name and was filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost. While visiting Port Huron, she fellowshipped with many young people who were on fire for the Lord. Cheryl developed and remained a worshiper, prayer warrior, singer, giver to others; as well as, server in the ministry and anywhere she saw a need. She was a fashionable creative queen and dressed like royalty every day of the week. Her creative abilities extended to interior decorating—with her golden touch and creative sense she could transform any room into a look of royalty. She enjoyed decorating and cleaning the church, as well as singing in the praise team and serving the ministry. Cheryl Lloyd was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, Bishop Raymond, Sr. and Elmira Lloyd; and son, Kent McLaurin. She leaves to cherish her love, her children: John, IV (Jennifer), David (Lynnette), Andrew (Lindsey), and Benita McLaurin. Eleven grandchildren: Tianna and Shaday Murray, Jonathan, Justin, Michael McLaurin, Lauren, Jordan, Logan, Londin, Jadynn Nussbaum, and Mayah McLaurin. Siblings: District Elder Raymond (Anita) Lloyd, Jr., Phyllis Stephens, Rosalyn Canty, Patricia (Walter) Miles, and Benita Carnes; as well as, many nieces and nephews, cousins, great-nieces and nephews, church families, and friends. Cheryl Jenice Lloyd, in life you’ve taken many journeys, but this is your journey of resting in the presence of the Love of your life—your Savior. Take your rest from your labor! Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at El Bethel Temple, 2049 Clifton Ave, Springfield, Ohio 45505.
