Clifton Crockran

Clifton Crockran, Sr., 81, of Springfield, Ohio, transitioned to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in Springfield Regional Hospital with family by his side. He was born on December 5, 1938 in Talladega, Alabama, the first child of Jesse and Bessie (White) Crockran. He was educated in the Talladega County Schools. Clifton professed faith in Jesus Christ at an early age at Sycamore Baptist Church. He served faithfully until moving to Springfield, Ohio, where he became a member of High Light Baptist Church. On October 20, 1962 Clifton married the love of his life, Martha Tucker. They spent 57 years together and raised six beautiful children. Clifton is known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He took pleasure in spending time with his family. Clifton took pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as they filled his heart with joy. Clifton had a passion for fishing, grilling and gardening. He also loved playing baseball. He leaves a loving family to cherish his memory: wife, Martha Crockran; three sons, Chris (Marsha) Crockran, Clifton Crockran Jr. (Patricia), and Clint (Rosalyn) Crockran all of Springfield, Ohio; three daughters, Dorren Amos of Springfield, Ohio, Lois (Darnell) Maxwell of Detroit, Michigan, and Angela (Gary) Johnson of Springfield, Ohio; 17 loving grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maggie (James) Long of Jacksonville, Florida, Lois Wells of Springfield, Ohio and Kathy Williams of Opelika, Alabama; five sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Clifton was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Bessie Crockran; two brothers, Jesse Crockran Jr. and Curtis Crockran; and son, John "Troy" Crowe. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Highlight Baptist Church, 909 South Western Avenue, Springfield, Ohio 45506. Interment will be held in the Ferncliff Cemetery, 501 West McCreight Avenue, Springfield, Ohio 45504. Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
