Corey Allen Lanier, Sr., 54, of Springfield (formerly of New Brunswick, New Jersey) departed this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on January 10, 1969 a son of Jean Ellen (Briggs) and Frank “Buddy” Lanier.
He was a prominent athlete of Red Bank High School and later joined the Job Corps entering a career as a certified electrician. Corey worked with many local contractors developing and implementing electrical units for various companies. He was a loving and caring father who touched the hearts of many who crossed paths with him. Corey never met a stranger. High spirited and gifted, he had the ability to brighten any room. Not only was Corey the life of the party, but was known as the Yompton King, 201, Buck Warner, New York, and Purdy. He called everyone a “Hot-Mess”.
Corey leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Torray Dotts-Lanier; two sons, Deshaun (Marva) Lanier and La'Juan Lane-Johnson (Zayne); four daughters: Nikkie (Davon) Dotts, Sharay (Tyree) Dotts, Sade Goodjohn, and Corianna Lanier; sister, Kim Davis; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Dotts, and Linda Dotts; brother, Tony Lanier; brothers-in-law, Phillip Dotts, and Dayan Dotts; 14 grandchildren: Kahnia (Nia), K’leighonna (PooPa Duk), Day'veona (Tinka-booty), Raysaun (Weezle), Tariyah (Bubbles), Siyah (Peaches), Azareonah (Phatty), De'Marion (Peanut), A’rionna (Fake-Ari), Tyree (Half-Pint), Deshaun (DJ), Samiyah (Chunky), Zyshon (Tinky), and Zyiera (Dat-coco); special friends: 711, Chrissy Ried, Reenie, Elijah, Traci, Lakisha, and Janice and Damon Parks; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Corey Allen Lanier, Jr.; grandson, Davon Boynton, Jr.; sister, Beverly (Yvette) Lanier-Hicks; two brothers, Terry Lanier and Craig Lanier; nephew, Darryl Davis, Jr.; niece, Xaviera Dotts; and brother-in-law, Bennie King III.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral service at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at El Bethel Temple, 2049 Clifton Ave, Springfield, Ohio 45505.
