David Elliot Lewis, 65, of Springfield, Ohio was lifted to heaven peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 28, 1959 and raised in Springfield, Ohio to the union of Richard and Vivian Lewis.
He was mentored by his father, Richard, as his youth pastor and acquired his phenomenal hardworking traits from him. David navigated an abundance of pursuits including serving in The United States Air Force, working for Piedmont Airlines, and gathered an array of experience in office administration.
David loved music and used it to go dancing, connect with numerous friends, acquaintances, and even lovers abroad. His interests included R&B through the 70's, 80's, & 90's, driving, commuting internationally to spend time with those he loved dearly, and seeing the world. David's smile and laughter always provided light to countless others. He had a special love for his favorite sports teams: the Miami Dolphins, OSU Buckeyes, San Antonio Spurs, and Cleveland Cavaliers; they blessed his days daily and infinitely. David spent his time playing basketball with his 3 boys as they also picked up the hobby, taking his children to the park, heart filled conversations to help guide his children, and sharing his love amongst his family.
David's departure comes with great shock and a deep wound from all his loved ones and all those who loved him. David leaves to cherish his memory — five children: Jon, James, Jennifer, David, and Mikayla; six grandchildren: Saniya, Syncere, Sydnie, Ivori, Izayiah, and Judah; his mother, Vivian Lewis, 92; the mothers of his children, his lifelong best friend, Leon Glenn; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; Richard James Lewis; grandparents, Edward and Tena Lewis, and Mary Louise Pemberton.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral service at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Covenant United Methodist Church, 529 W. Johnny Lytle Ave, Springfield, Ohio 45506. Interment: Ferncliff Cemetery.
