Dwight S. Lavizzo, 36, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away Monday, June 14, 2021. He was born on January 17, 1985, to Theodore Lavizzo and Allie Lavizzo (Nee Walker), in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was educated within the Cincinnati Public Schools system and graduated from Woodward High School in 2004. Dwight later attended Shawnee State University, in Portsmouth, Ohio where he majored in Health Science. Dwight also attended Cincinnati State Technical College until his health prevented him from continuing. His longtime ambition was to become a high school basketball coach. While attending Shawnee State University, Dwight coached many high school basketball summer leagues. He spent countless hours learning and studying the sport; constantly reading books and viewing play videos. Dwight even had the skill of designing his own plays for the team. Dwight was baptized at an early age at his family’s church, First New Shiloh Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Michael K. Cash. He was active in the children’s choir and maintained his membership into his adulthood. As an adult, Dwight was employed by several janitorial companies. His final place of employment was Scioto Janitorial Services, where Dwight took great pride in his work, and gained special working relationships. He loved his sports; especially, basketball and football at all levels (high school, college and pro). Dwight knew all details about almost every player from their high school and college careers on up. He studied under several talented people, Coach Jim Leon, Coach Ralph Berry, Coach Scott Vonderhaar, Coach Chris Bruning, and Coach Lannis Timmons during his high school career. Dwight took great pride in being the Woodward High School Team Manager during the timeframe of 2000-2004. To know him was to love him. Dwight had such a loving, uplifting and playful spirit. He could always make you laugh and had the ability to instantly change the atmosphere in each room he entered. Dwight was an extremely family-oriented young man. Even though he was a born and raised Cincinnatian, his heart belonged to the Pittsburgh Steelers! Dwight leaves to cherish his loving memory: mother, Allie Lavizzo (nee Walker); sister, Odaris Lavizzo; godbrother, Calvin Bryant; aunts, Marie Lavizzo and Sharon Dixon (Jerry); uncles, John Walker and Kelvin Lavizzo; nieces, Adair Lavizzo and Sadaira Lavizzo; godmother, Sylvia Williams, a special adopted grandmother, Mabel Hutchins; longtime best friend, Willie Thomas; close cousins; Gloria Walker, Anthony Curd (Natalie), Shannon Walker, Gregory Lynn (Ashley), Christopher Harris, Keisha Taylor-Black (Marquis), and Joshua Walker. He will be missed by a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Lavizzo; two loving grandmothers, Helen Walker and Stewart Odars; grandfather, Laurott Lavizzo; two uncles, Michael Walker and Terrance Walker; aunt, Rosalind A. Curd; and nephew, Darris Lavizzo. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with family receiving friends an hour prior on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Spring Grove Cemetery in the (Norman Chapel), 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232. Interment 3:00 pm immediately following services at Spring Grove Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
