Edward Lee Bush

Edward Lee Bush, 71, transitioned from this life Thursday, September 26, 2019. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio January 9, 1948 to the union of Robert and Jane Bush. Edward was baptized April 4, 1948 at Mother of God Church and received his first Holy Communion in 1957; as well as, his Holy Sacraments of confirmation in 1959 at Holy Trinity Church. He attended Catholic and Cincinnati Public Schools and was a graduate of Withrow High School Class of 1967. Edward was among the seniors that protested at Withrow H.S. standing up for what he believed in and against racial injustice. His decision to march and demonstrate as a young man, showed his character of respect and standing for what he believed in, even to the extent of losing his musical scholarship. Edward joined Doris Abernathy in Holy Matrimony and to their Union was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Dorthea Collins. Ed was a talented, gifted and soulful singer, who had a passion for old-school and R&B music. He was a Cincinnati Bengals fan, who loved fishing, cowboy and Bruce Lee movies, and enjoyed playing cards. Ed was an old-schooler, old soul, traditional man who believed in "respect" and family! He was a dedicated and loving son, a companion and caregiver for our mother to the end. As the oldest of six children, he was a Great True Big Brother! He was always protective and supportive of his siblings, offering his encouragement, experience and "School of Hard-Knocks", wisdom, without judgement. Edward was preceded in transition by his father; Robert Lee Bush; sister, Barbara Bush; and brother, Bruce Anthony Bush. He will forever be remembered and cherished by his loving and devoted mother, Jane Bush; brothers, Robert Marvin Bush, Ronald Elvin (Antoinette) Bush; sister, Leah Carla Phillips (Dwayne) Robinson; and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in the Church of The Resurrection Catholic Church, 1619 California Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45237. Interment will be held in Cherry Fork Cemetery in Adams County, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Jerry W. Kinley Funeral Home.
