Eva Gail Belle, 81 of Springfield, Ohio transitioned to meet her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus on Tuesday, December 15, 2021, at Forest Glen Health Campus after a brief battle with complications from pulmonary arterial hypertension. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on November 29, 1940, the youngest daughter of the late Horace and Henrietta Evans. She gave her life to Christ and was baptized at the tender age of 8 becoming a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Springfield, Ohio. She graduated from Springfield High in 1958 and began her career at the Montgomery County Children’s Home where she worked for 17 years. Eva Gail began working at WPAFB in September 1978 as a clerk typist but quickly ascended within the National Air and Intelligence Plans and Policy Office to become a management assistant and later, a management analyst. She served as the NAIC’s sole manpower and organization representative and was instrumental in developing NAIC positions on outsourcing, reorganization, and military-grade structure for scientists and engineers. Her dedication and distinguished service with the National Air Intelligence Center were recognized with an Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award. In her 22 years of service, she was noted as being “quietly competent”, independently fulfilling her responsibilities, and making the difficult look easy. Eva Gail was a member of the Daughters of Isis, Akbar Court #33 for 51 years, working on numerous community projects. She served as Illustrious Commandress, Past Commandress, Imperial Deputy of the Desert of Ohio, Deputy of the Oasis (Springfield), and Honorary Past Imperial Commandress. She served many years as Treasurer of Akbar Court #33 and until her illness, Eva Gail was Recordress. Eva Gail had the heart of a servant as shown through her 66 years of dedicated service to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, serving on the Senior Usher Board, Finance Committee, VBS, and Pulpit Search Committee. In 2014, she became a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she continued to serve the purposes of God. She was a devoted aunt, cousin, and second mother to many. Eva Gail leaves to cherish her memory, one foster son, John Crosby of Dayton, Ohio; a niece, Carla (Clarence) Kelley of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; nephew , Van (Carolyn) Hutchins of Los Angeles, California; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends across the country. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Geraldine Patterson, Bonnie Johnson, Alnora Hammond, Mary Louise (Pat) Hutchins; one brother, Luther Evans; and nephew, Victor Hutchins. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 34 West Pleasant Street (Enter @ Mulberry Street Side) Springfield, Ohio 45506.
