Evelyn Stewart, 82, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Evelyn Stewart, known as “Big Sis”, of Cincinnati, Ohio, departed this world on January 13, 2021. She was born in Fayetteville, Tennessee on June 16, 1938 to the union of the late Willie and Alene Bright. She was a student at West End High School in Fayetteville, Tennessee. In the late 1960s Evelyn became a social worker. During that time, many families were in need of service and Evelyn was there to help them receive the resources they needed to help their families. Evelyn was a caring person and she helped the elderly in her neighborhood until she couldn’t help them anymore. Evelyn had a great sense of humor and her family would always call each other up and said, “Guess what Grandma said?!” The funniest joke was when Evelyn lived in the Senior Citizen building and she had a neighbor named “William.” If anything went wrong or was out of place, “it was William’s fault.” To this day her grandchildren will say, “It’s William’s Fault,” when things go wrong. She cherished her family and now Evelyn is with the ones who are no longer with us, only in spirit; her sisters, Helen Carpenter, Betty Cunningham, and Cherly Burton. Evelyn is survived by her children, Mitchell Bright, Vicki Ray, Betty Jean Jones, Christopher Stewart, Norbert Stewart, Alma Hocker, and George Willis; grandchildren, Felicia Foster, Tish Ray, Jason Ray, Shaun Jones, Omar Jones, Germaine Stewart, Jessica “Penny” Watson (Lon), Maia Jones, Jeremy Stewart, and Ciarra Brown; brother and sisters, Thomas Bright (Sara), Glyndon Butler (Donald), Lauretta Bright and Gail Horton; favorite cousin, Charlene Wortham, whom she adored; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Evelyn cherished the moments when she was able to spend time with loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren—everyone was her “Favorite.” Her memory will live on in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held at 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 Noon on Friday, January 29, 2021 at James Temple Annex Chapel, 1119 Lincoln Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206. Interment Vine Street Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
