Gwendolyn Jones

Gwendolyn Yvonne (Wilson) Jones was born to James Wilson and Catherine Granville on March 12, 1936 in Louisville, KY. She departed from us and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 14, 2023, at the age of 87.

Gwen, along with her mother and sisters, Janice and Barbara, moved from Louisville to Cincinnati in 1949 and grew up in Madisonville.

She went on to marry Paul A. Jones on June 22, 1970. In her early years she worked with Paul at his cab company then moved on to help him establish ownership of the Fulton Manor Hotel, where she did payroll. Gwen moved on to work at the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts until she fell ill. From there the Sisters of the Transfiguration sought out Gwen where she worked doing payroll until retirement.

Gwen’s major accomplishment was being a loving sister, aunt, grandmother and mother. Her love and devotion brought much happiness and fond memories to those who were in her life. She spent her time making sure that she showed unconditional love for everyone.

To share fond memories, she leaves one son, Jonathan A. Jones (Meredith); a sister, Barbara A. Pickett; two grandsons, DaVaughn A. Jones, and Philip Bryant Jr. (Kiana); two granddaughters, Jada A. Jones, and Tyler Bryant; three great-grandsons, Elias A. Jones, Philip Bryant III, and Beaux E. Bryant; five nephews: Curtis Pickett, Harold Philip Wade, Covan Pickett, Anthony Wade, and Corey Pickett; five nieces: Cathy Wade-Davis, Cindy Bolden, Christine Wade, Carin Wade, and Carla Duncan; and a host of other sons, daughters and friends.

Gwen was preceded in death by her mother and father; and sisters, Ardina Thompson and Janice Wade.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at James Temple C.O.G.I.C (Annex Chapel), 1119 Lincoln Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206. Interment: Walnut Hills Cemetery.
