Harold K Wade

December 8, 1935 — October 16, 2019

Harold Kenneth Wade, age 83, was the youngest of six children born to the late Edward and Mary Wade (nee Word). While he was raised in Madisonville, he spent many of his summers in Manchester, Kentucky with his maternal grandparents. Harold attended St. Andrews Episcopal Church where he was baptized and served as an acolyte. In his later years he renewed his faith in Jesus Christ. Harold attended Withrow High School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart Janice Wade (nee Wilson). Seven children were born from this union. He later married Nancy Kincaid (Don), and one child was born from this union. Harold retired from the United States Postal Services in 1992 after thirty-five years of service. He lived in Golf Manor with his youngest daughter and caregiver Carin Wade until he departed this life on October 16, 2019. Harold was known as (Dad) and grandpa to his children and grandchildren. He was also known as H.K., Pops and Uncle Harold by others. Dad had a contagious sense of humor that made you laugh even when you tried not to. He used rhyming words, or recited poetic responses to either entertain or avoid situations where he did not wish to answer. Those who knew him often told funny stories of encounters with him or about situations where he was just 'extra.' Dad often told colorful stories about his friends that would have you laughing, even when you were the butt of his jokes. Dad was a private man who spoke little of his health challenges. In his later years he developed a selective hearing loss where he heard what he wanted to hear and he learned to use it to his advantage. When he did not wish to answer a question he would repeatedly reply 'huh''huh', as if he could not hear. While at other times he responded promptly with 'I know that's right.' Dad was an advent supporter of the Veteran's Association. He served as a parent coach for the Ken-Sil baseball team, where his eldest son played for nine years. He enjoyed all sports, attending the race tracks, playing scratch offs, walking, attending flea markets and fishing. Dad departed this life on October 16, 2019. He loved each of his eight children dearly, but differently in his own special way. He leaves to cherish his memories: Cathy Wade-Davis, Cynthia Bolden (Leroy), Christine Wade, Carla Duncan (Dwight), Harold Philip Wade (Ramona), Carin Wade, Anthony Wade (Tonya) and Marcus Wade, twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, ex-wives Janice Wade and Nancy Kincaid, a brother William Wade, a nephew that he loved as his own, Lawrence Pennington, Jr., and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Wade; siblings Edward Norman Wade, II (Sonny), Mary Etta Pennington, Gretna Miles and Hazel Wade. Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home. A joyful heart is good medicine (Proverbs 17:22) Thank you Dad for the laughter you brought into our lives. We love you and will miss you always.
