Jalen LaTraye Thomas, 28, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away Monday, February 14, 2022. He was born in Cincinnati on June 24, 1993 the oldest and only son of his mother and father, Charlsetta Dangerfield-Smith and Eddie Thomas. He was educated in the Cincinnati Public Schools System beginning with headstart. Jalen attended Eastern Hills Academy, The Academy of Multilingual Immersion Studies, and eventually graduated from Walnut Hills High School in May 2011. He attended Kentucky State University from August 2011 to May 2012. Jalen then enrolled in the University of Cincinnati (Blue Ash campus) from 2012 to 2013. He most recently was accepted into the Engineering/IT program at Cincinnati State College to begin this Spring. Jalen accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized as an infant at Metropolitan C.M.E. Church, where he remained an active member and served on the usher board until he went away to college. He enjoyed sports from an early age and played soccer from headstart until 7th grade. Jalen also enjoyed entertaining others with his passion for music and was an avid history buff. He was often believed to be wise beyond his years, often befriending people much older than he. Jalen loved to cook. He was often seen as the chef of the family. There wasn't a day that went by that Jalen wouldn't have something prepared that everyone could enjoy. He was always supportive of his family and often referred to as the glue. Jalen had an infectious smile, that everyone adored, that could light up any room. He enjoyed and looked forward to visiting and spending time with his father and family in Dallas, Texas. Jalen leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Charlsetta Dangefield-Smith (Kevin); father, Eddie Thomas; sisters, Gabrielle, Caylei and Kylie; godsister, Ayana; grandmothers, Clara Thomas and Grace Dangerfield; uncle; Kevin Bivins, Sr.; aunts, Cynthia Paulette Mitchell, Adriane Thomas, and Crystal Thomas; and a host of family and friends of both Dallas, Texas and Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Eddie L. Thomas and Will Dangerfield, Sr.; and uncles, Terrance L. Thomas and Will Dangerfield, Jr.
