Janice Marie Fisher, 73, of Springfield, Ohio departed this earthly life on Monday, February 15, 2021, to transition to eternal rest following a long battle with Leukemia. She was born December 12, 1947, to Emmert Fisher and Isabelle (Ingram) Fisher. She loved taking care of others, and oftentimes, did more for others than she did for herself. Janice was selfless, kind, compassionate, sentimental, generous, and grateful. Janice loved people and genuinely favored most everyone whose presence she graced. She loved helping individuals who needed her and whenever they needed her. Janice remained readily available to come to the rescue of others and never once did she complain. She always said, “Grandma said, if you’re going to do something for somebody, do it, and don’t complain about it later because it means that you didn’t do it from the heart”. This quote was one of many that she shared, and which came from her grandmother. Janice frequently spoke passionately about her grandmother and shared that her grandmother had groomed her for the woman she had become. Janice loved her parents and often reminisced about her childhood. She said she always believed she was a “daddy’s girl”. Janice loved her family members and appreciated invitations to cook-outs, parties, etc., she enjoyed spending time with family, laughing, joking, fussing, sharing stories, and loving every moment of being together. Janice enjoyed playing bingo, she and her daughter Linda, who initially disliked bingo, began to enjoy just doing more of what Janice liked, and Linda quickly developed a liking for the game and the two became avid bingo queens for as long as Janice’s health would allow. She was a long-time faithful member of Highlight Baptist Church under the auspices of the late Reverend Curtis F. Davis, where she served as a member of the Missionary Society and Usher Board. Janice also prepared meals for visiting pastors, guests, and the congregation. As a part of Janice’s continued desire to serve in GOD’S house, she also maintained the cleanliness of the church. Janice was extremely active in church and so much, that she attended 7 days a week, making sure her kids were alongside her for Sunday school, 11:00 a.m. church service, evening service, choir practice, revivals, meetings, and any/everything church-related. She continued to remain a member of Highlight Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Robert Buford until the onset of her illness and her inability to remain seated for long periods of time. Janice is survived by and leaves to cherish the wonderful memories of love, patience, enormous strength, and resilience—four children: Carol Henry, Linda, Kevin (Kristi), James (Kim), all of whom she loved unequivocally, unconditionally, and with fervor! Janice leaves to mourn her passing, the greatest blessings that one could receive—her grandchildren: Harmony Humphrey, Christian Jenkins, Kaylie, and Kyler Miller; Stephanie, Melanie, Tiffany, and Antwan Henry; Jakar, Sean, and Jayden Fisher; Mandy Coe, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special friends: Shirley Preston, Candi Wright, Anita Victoria, and George Webster. (Please forgive me if I forgot anyone.) Janice is also survived by her siblings: Melvin Fisher of North Carolina; Harry Fisher, Cynthia Fisher, Marcia Garrison, and Julius Fisher, all of Springfield, OH. Janice was preceded in death by her mother, Isabelle Fisher; father, Emmert Fisher; brothers, Emmert Fisher III, Fred Fisher, Lavelle Fisher, and Virgil Fisher; and her adopted granddaughter, Caitlin Preston, whom she loved as much as her biological grandchildren. Thank you to the family members who sat with mom in her last days at my request for 24-hour coverage and thank you to the family members who visited daily on your own accord. Your willingness to take the time out of your busy schedule to oblige me will always be appreciated and never forgotten. You are loved! Mom’s wish was to decline to have an immediate traditional homegoing ceremony; partly because of the pandemic, and because she wanted to ease what she thought would be a burden to her children. I reiterate the selflessness of my beautiful and humble queen Janice. She always thought and responded from her heart and soul! In the near future, there will be a celebration to memorialize, honor and pay tribute to mom. Please check back at a later date for details on the celebration. To plant a memorial tree in memory of or to send flowers, please visit the tribute store at Kinley Funeral Home. Close to the end of mom’s journey, she asked me to share with her siblings and others the need to be closer to one another. She cited the scripture from Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as GOD in Christ forgave you.” Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
