Joe Louis Canady, Sr., 84, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away Friday, October 9, 2020. He was born in Byron, Georgia on November 14, 1935 to the union of Dempsey Canady, Sr. and Dorothy Gary-Canady. He moved to New York at the age of 14 to work with his Uncles, Curtis and Wilbur, Sr. Joe left New York and made his home in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 17. This is where he met the love of his life, Priscilla Spivey. They married on October 20, 1956. To this union six children were born: Sabrina, Varnita, Joe, Jr., Sarnelia, Anthony, and Dorothy. Joe accepted Christ at an early age. He was a very hard worker. Joe loved doing construction work. He worked for several companies. Before Joe retired, he worked for Monarch Construction Company. Joe took pride in helping to build Proctor & Gamble (P&G) on Center Hill, The Brent Spence Bridge, General Hospital, Longview Hospital, Riverfront Stadium, parts of Interstate 75, and the Cincinnati Morgue. He enjoyed his life to the fullest. Joe set the bar high!! He took care of his family well. It wasn't anything we asked for that we didn't get. He was the Best Father Ever!! The Best Husband Ever!! Joe treated everyone like family. He enjoyed talking about growing up and hanging out with his friends and family. If you needed something, he was always there no matter what. Joe loved drinking his Millers High Life, Canadian Club and his moonshine when he would get some. Joe loved his cars as well. He always had a new car every year, sometimes two. Joe enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends at the Black Beer Lot, A-1 Liquor Parking Lot and York & Lynn Bar. Letting the Good Times Roll, as he would always say. He pays the Cost to be the Boss. He’s the Captain of the ship and we were the Members of the Crew. He enjoyed telling stories about his life and work. Most of them were funny. Joe would have you laughing until you cried from laughing so hard. He would be laughing and could barely tell the story himself. In Joe's older days, he just hung out at White Castles drinking coffee with his brother, uncles, and cousins. They all would be having a great time laughing and joking. He was an easy man to love and everyone loved him!! His memory will live on in the hearts of his loving-devoted wife, Priscilla Canady; brothers, Oliver Canady, Gary Price, Sammy Price and Jerry Price; sisters, LaWanda Hicks (Michael), Gloria Price and Susie Spears; four children, Sabrina, Joe, Jr. (Angela), Anthony and Dorothy (Timothy); eight grandchildren, Wykeitha, Quentin, Keisha, Maurice, Natasha (Andrae, Sr.), Brittany, Alexis, Angela (Berdo), Charee, Nichelle, Tiffany (Ardtnael), and Tirie; 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
