Joyce Lynn (Doyle) Rodgers, 72, of Columbus, Ohio passed away Thursday May 6,2021. She was born in Springfield, Ohio February 17, 1949. Joyce was one of thirteen children, a daughter of Nathaniel and Betty (Clayborne) Doyle. As a child she was happy, full of laughter, smart, beautiful, and had a good sense of humor. She was a 1967 graduate of Springfield South, participated in Wittenberg Upward Bound and attended Norfolk State University. After later moving to Columbus, Ohio, she married Joseph Rodgers of Louise, Mississippi and had three children. Joyce retired from AT&T (formerly Ohio Bell). Joyce loved Marvin Gaye, Almond Joy candy bars, and Pepsi (even though she was a diabetic). She could drive you crazy and make you burst out laughing at the same time. Joyce enjoyed activities such as walking around the block and visiting neighbors. Her favorite movie was The Color Purple. Joyce’s favorite color was Black. She loved her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren dearly. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 48 years, Joseph Rodgers; siblings, Cecil James Doyle, Wayne Anthony Doyle, Debra Kay Doyle, and Venus Caprice Doyle; children, David Rodgers, Tonya Rodgers, and Michael Rodgers; grandchildren, Bria Clark, Taylor Clark, David Rodgers, Alexandria Rodgers, and Christian Brown; great-grandchildren, Tylor Dodson, Legacy Johnson, and Jossiah Clark; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Betty Doyle; and siblings: Carolyn Louise Howard, Nathaniel Doyle, Jr., Donald Eugene Doyle, Betty Jane Doyle, Jerry Lee Doyle, Jacqueline (Doyle) Robinson, Cynthia Elaine Stevens, and Cathy Jo Doyle. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Ferncliff Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
