Joyce Marie Bray, 78, of Springfield, Ohio beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother transitioned from this life to eternity Thursday, April 9, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 22, 1941 in Springfield, Ohio the daughter of William Luther and Ruby (House) Bray. Joyce was the third in a lineage of four children. She was a graduate of Springfield High School. Joyce was joined in marriage to the late Jasper G. Jackson on October 17, 1959 and to this union five children were born. She was a former employer of ITT Jabsco and later worked for the General Motor Corp until retirement. Joyce confessed her hope and faith in Christ and was baptized under the leadership of the late Bishop Cecil A. Pratt at the Church of Jesus Family Worship Center. She was a lover of jazz music, an avid shopper, wonderful cook, and immensely enjoyed her weekly bingo game with her friends at the Elderly United Senior Citizen Center. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Janice Denise (Craig) Davis, Jacqueline Elaine (Darryl) Walls, and Karla Leslie; son, Jeffery Lamar Jackson; sister, Marilyn Bray; grandchildren, Craig, Jr., Aaron and Von Davis, Anthony and Maria Walls, Monty, Shayla and JaKerra Leslie; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Thelma Bray, Donna (Don) Martin, Joyce Johnson, Delores Daniel of Springfield, Ohio, Norma (Clifton) Abbott of Colorado Springs, and Francis (James) Belle of Merino Valley, California; brother-in-law, La France (Euretha) Jackson of Springfield, Ohio; longtime special friends, Patty Young, Lulabelle Shaffer, Dorothy Waker, and Anita Victoria; and a host of loving nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, William Luther and Ruby (House) Bray; son, Brian Keith Jackson; and brothers, Kenneth Bray and William Luther (Sonny) Bray, Jr. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but onto all them also that love his appearing." Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2020 in the Kinley Funeral Home Chapel, 1307 East High Street, Springfield, Ohio 45505. NOTE: Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Ohio Governor and our city officials have set guidelines and procedures to follow during public gatherings of funeral services. These restrictions have been arranged with the family. Please allow the family to have their private time during the services being held at 12:00 p.m. A larger gathering may be held at a future date (to be announced) at the discretion of the family.
