Karen Johnson

Karen Johnson, 70, of Springfield, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 3, 2020 at Springfield Regional Hospital. She was born May 23, 1949 in Springfield, Ohio to William E. and Ludean Q. Rhodes. She attended Springfield City Schools and was also a devoted member to I.D.M.R. Karen also lived in Hamilton, Ohio for 13 years. She was a devoted, loving and caring mother and nana. Karen would do anything for us. She loved to sing, dance and eat snacks with her great-grandkids. Karen enjoyed being around and spending time with her daughters, all of her grandchildren and family. She was outgoing, funny and a joy to be around. Karen had a smile that would brighten up the room and you would never forget. She will be missed dearly by all those who truly knew and loved her. Karen leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Eugena Rhodes and Jamie Hughes; six grandchildren, Shantel Rhodes, Shanika Phillips, Nathaniel Phillips, Jayson Phillips, Jayvon H., and Trevor Crockran; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Rhonda (Roy) Miller; brother, Lamar (Joyce) Rhodes; and a host of friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. and Ludean Rhodes, and special cousins. A private family service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2020 in the Kinley Funeral Home Chapel, 1307 East High Street, Springfield, Ohio 45505. Family and Friends are asked to join the service on Facebook Live beginning at 12:30 p.m. A larger public gathering (Memorial service) will be scheduled and announced on a later date at the discretion of the family. NOTE: Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Ohio Governor and our city officials have set guidelines and procedures to follow during public gatherings of funeral services. These restrictions have been arranged with the family. Please allow the family to have their private time during the services being held at 12:30 p.m.
