Karen P. Freeman

Karen Y. Phillips Freeman, 59, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022. She was born in Cincinnati on October 30, 1962 to Ben Vernon Phillips and Leeomie Phillips. Karen was the youngest of three siblings: Ben Vernon Phillips II, Susan Phillips Burch, and Jacqueline P. Cunningham. Growing up, Karen was raised in Bond Hill and relocated to the Evanston area after marriage. She attended Woodward High School. She was a versatile woman. Karen worked at the Post Office, spent years at Children's Hospital, tried her luck hitting the jackpot at Jack's Casino, and finally welcomed visitors with that big beautiful smile into the V.A. Hospital. Karen was also the realest lady you could know. She was exciting, adventurous, and curious. Karen would tell you in a heartbeat that she's the Queen, and her King was never too far away. She was loving, caring, and ever so giving—a phenomenal woman with such a beautiful spirit and soul. Karen loved a great gathering with her friends and family. Music was her life; she loved a great tune! Just like her mom, Karen loved traveling, playing cards, and trips to the casino. She was so young for her body, and Karen never let that stop her. Karen will always be remembered by her voice, smile, and personality. She was and is loved beyond measure. Karen leaves behind in the hands of God and to cherish her amazing memories: her husband of 25 years, Steven Dion Freeman; two daughters, Dionna Lee Freeman, and Danielle Nicole Freeman; three stepsons, Dion Rashawn Freeman, Steven Tijaun Williams, and Henderson Stephen Lyons; two grandsons, Benjamin Lee Freeman, and Hezekiah Lotus Lee Freeman; and a host of family and many dear friends. Sadly, both of her parents, Leeomie Phillips and Ben Vernon Phillips, preceded Karen in death. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with service to follow at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Faith Temple Church of God, 825 Rockdale Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
