Keith L. Lawson

January 8, 1958 — October 12, 2024

Keith Lamar Lawson, 66, of Springfield, Ohio was surrounded by close family and friends when he went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, October 12, 2024. He was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio on January 8, 1958, to the late Emmitt Lawson and his loving mother, Okareta Henry.

Although Keith moved to California during his earlier years, and loved to sit around and tell some good ole stories about the exciting times he had, it wasn't long before he returned to his hometown. Soon after, he met his wife, Jean, and they shared a long, loving 26 years together until she passed. That loss took a piece of him that he could never get back. And although family was always important to him, spending time with the ones he loved took on a whole new meaning. Cherishing life, enjoying each day, and caring for others in his own onery way.

Keith worked for the City of Springfield for many of his former years and loved going to work. He enjoyed seeing his coworkers and being outside. When he wasn't working, he was riding around visiting family and friends—his mother more than most, checking on her daily no matter what else he had going on. Keith spent most of his time working in his yard at the home he shared with his love, dropping snacks off to his grandchildren, or taking medicine to those he knew were ill.

Being a fierce Ohio State fan, a perfect day for Keith was running to the closest store to play his lottery, going home to sit with a few family and friends, having the kids run around, with a beer in his hand, and an Ohio State game on the TV. Although he lived a full and exciting life, it was the simple things he loved so much. So, as Lawson would say, if he were here, "Dig don't cry over me; I am meeting my Wife in heaven, and I am now as happy as I can be."

Besides his mother, Keith leaves behind to cherish his memory: daughter, Regina Frazier; stepdaughter, Sheri Andrews; two stepsons, Glenn Williams, and Anthony Andrews; six grandchildren: Christopher Johnson, Jayden (Boo Boo) Williams, Ethan, Ryan, and Cameron Pendleton, and Miah (Tink Tink) Andrews; three sisters, Lavonda (Keith) Crawford, Rhonda K. Lawson, Cynthia Elaine Lawson-Beachum, and Cheryl Hale; two godchildren, Shindey Smoot, and Tyshawn Bishop; special niece, Nicole Cavitt-Benn; special nephew, Tyrone Williams; special friend, Von Hutchins; and a host of nieces, nephews, close friends and family.

Keith was preceded in death by his father, Emmitt Lawson; the love of his life, Vanetia Jean Bishop; grandparents, Richard and Viola Lawson, and Arthur and Catherine Dorsey; brother, Emmitt Bryant Lawson; sisters, Carla Renee, and Felicia Jean Lawson; as well as, other nephews, nieces, and loved ones.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024 at El Bethel Temple, 2049 Clifton Ave, Springfield, Ohio 45505. Interment: Ferncliff Cemetery.
