Layah Gabrille Mccloud

September 18, 2003 — October 16, 2022

Layah Gabrille McCloud, 19, passed away unexpectedly in Greensboro, North Carolina on October 16, 2022, and left us way too soon. Layah was born on September 18, 2003 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Randall McCloud, Jr. and Asia McClurin, and was the youngest of two children born to this union. She was given the nickname “Layah Pooh” by her mother at an early age, a nickname that will remain with her forever.

In the summer months, Layah traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio to visit her Dad with her brothers Landyn McCloud and Logan Harrison. During her visits with Dad, she spent a lot of time outdoors and loved going on family trips, fishing, and boating. Layah also enjoyed spending time with her cousins, Jayla and Erianna. The three of them were inseparable and close like sisters.

On June 4, 2021, at the age of 17, Layah graduated with honors from Butler High School in Charlotte, North Carolina and received a full scholarship to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical (NCAT) State University. At the time of death, she was a sophomore attending NCAT, majoring in Animal Science and on her way to becoming a veterinarian.

Layah was selected to join North Carolina A&T State University’s chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success and recently made the Caribbean Student Association Modeling Team.

During Layah’s years at college, she made many friends who loved and cared for her dearly. Several of her friends said, “she was the life of the party, and the party didn’t start until Layah arrived”.

Layah was a talented entrepreneur, who did it all. Her ambition’s led her to doing hair on campus, creating artwork, and making clothes and games for her friends. She was also employed at Starbucks/Barnes & Noble’s on campus and was known as “the barista lady” for the creative beverages she created.

Her creativity, brilliant mind, and kind heart were some of the greatest gifts that God have given her. She was truly an angel sent to us from heaven. Layah will forever remain in our hearts and be missed.

Layah leaves to cherish her memories: her parents, Randall McCloud, Jr. (Stephanie), and Asia McClurin (Jonathan); siblings, Landyn McCloud, Randee McCloud, Logan Harrison, and Tierra Harris (Stephanie); grandparents, Randall (Ethel) McCloud, Sr. and Mike (Valerie) Hulsinger; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial service will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 2961 Madison  Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45209.

Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
