Lenard James Burse, Sr.

Lenard James Burse, Sr., 41, was born July 2, 1976. He was the eldest child of Austin and Venita (Burse) Summers. Lenard was happy and surrounded by loved ones when he was called home to glory on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Christ was accepted as Lenards personal savior at a young age at Golden Leaf Baptist Church. In the right setting, he was often caught lecturing and quoting scriptures. Lenard allowed his light to shine everywhere he went. His infectious sense of humor touched everyone he contacted. He was known for his sensitive and empathetic personality. He had a strong passion to help others in need. It was very rare to see Lenard angry. He enjoyed seeing others laughing and smiling, and had the ability to tell jokes that forced you to think for understanding. Lenard was very rambunctious in his youth, but grew into a phenomenal man. Lenard attended Withrow High School where he made lifelong friends. He earned his GED years later and studied Business Management at Southwestern College. He found delight in going to work every day and formed genuine relationships with coworkers. With Lenard, every friend became a best friend, and best friends became family. Any opportunity to gather with family, Lenard was there. He loved his family and the love for his children, Ricci and Lenard, Jr., was undeniably beautiful; as well as, the love for their mother, Helen. Lenard was preceded in death by his mother, Venita (Burse) Summers; his grandparents, Clyde & Charnchia (Hayes) Burse & Lenard and Carlean (Baker) Summers. He leaves so many behind to cherish his memories; two children, Lenard, Jr., Ricci and their mother, Helen Mays. Lenards father, Austin Summers; his siblings: Phillip, Jessica, Crystal, Carmen, and Angela. Nephews: Jamal, Tyrique, Xavier, and Avery. Nieces: DiYonne, Ayauna, Caliya, and Ily. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Great Aunts, Great Uncles; many loving cousins, and a multitude of best friends, special friends, and co-workers. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Golden Leaf Baptist Church, 5910 Argus Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the service at 11:00 a.m. Final arrangements entrusted to the Jerry W. Kinley Funeral Home.
