Luvenia Hampton

Luvenia Hampton, 87, of Springfield, Ohio passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020. She was born July 22, 1933 to J.C. Simmons and Pearl (Cameron) Simmons in Talladega, Alabama. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother. Luvenia was a committed servant of God, and was a devoted member of El Bethel Temple, Springfield, Ohio for several years. While a member of El Bethel, she served on the Missionary and Usher boards. In her later years, Luvenia became a member of House of Prayer, Springfield, Ohio where she rejoiced in hearing the Word of God. Luvenia was immensely devoted to her family and enjoyed nurturing, teaching, and preparing them for adulthood. Luvenia was formerly employed by Holiday Inn, Springfield, Ohio and worked as a cook at Camp Olmstead in Cornwall on the Hudson in New York. But her heart was always focused on being a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother. She loved cooking, gardening, and raising kids. Many of her nieces and nephews were watched by her at different periods of their lives as they were growing up. Luvenia took great pleasure in knowing that their parents entrusted her with their care while they were away. Luvenia leaves to cherish her legacy: her loving husband, Louis Hampton, Sr.; daughter and (caretaker), Sandra (Greg) Hamilton of Springfield, Louise (Eddie Arias) Hampton of California, Louis (Letriana) Hampton, Jr. of Georgia, LaVerne (James) Wallace of Springfield, and Joseph Hampton of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren, Greg II, Erika, Christopher, Jeramey, Cameron, Michael and Kenndra; three great-grandchildren, Joel, Alonna, and Ava; as well as, a host of special nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and six brothers. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 in the Kinley Funeral Home Chapel, 1307 East High Street, Springfield, Ohio 45505.
