Mae Dorsie (Dottie) Willis Jamison, 97, of Cincinnati, Ohio departed this life surrounded by her family on Friday, July 14, 2023. She was born on October 9, 1925 in Richmond, Kentucky; the first child of the late John and Katie Willis.
The Willis family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in the early years of her life, and she began employment at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio at the tender age of 15. Upon her return to Cincinnati, she completed her education at Cincinnati Vocational School, where she received certification in cake decoration and floral arrangement. As a neighborhood friend on Amy Ave, Dorsie met John Lee Jamison who soon became her husband of 44 years, prior to his death.
Dottie, as she preferred to be called, worked diligently as a private housekeeper, a cook at Children’s Hospital, and a product distributor at NuTone Inc, where she retired. She was an amazing cook and baker. At any given time of the day, you would be welcomed into her home with a smile, delicious food and if you were lucky her famous brownies. Her distinctive voice gave a sense of comfort, especially when her laughter was met with her favorite sayings, “No Jo!” or “Oh Boy!” However, the most memorable of them all was when she sent you on your way and ended the visit with, “I love you more!” After the passing of her husband, John Lee, Dottie moved from the family home to St. Paul Lutheran Village, where she enjoyed making new friends, spending time with her siblings that lived there, managing the arts and crafts department, and reigning as the Pokeno Champ. Dottie enjoyed her days at St. Paul, especially since her sisters, Rosie and Lena, lived in the apartments next door, her brother Paul lived across the hallway and another brother Herschel, stopped by weekly.
Mrs. Jamison was a devoted and faithful member of New Mission Missionary Baptist Church, Cincinnati, Ohio. She served as the Pastor’s Aid for many years, coordinated all the church’s group trips and was a member of the Senior Choir. Even into her final days of life, she found joy in listening to the weekly Sunday services.
On the morning prior to Dottie’s departure, as if she were preparing for her triumphant transition, she attended the Annual Senior Ball at Duke Energy Convention Center, where she was crowned Queen of the Tri-State Area. What a delight it was for her to spend the day with her close friends and family, as we now know, this was all in preparation for her “Golden Crown.”
Beloved mother of the late Kenneth L. Jamison (Dolly), the late Carl (Ricky) Jamison, and Leora (Torie) Jamison Waller (Willie). Stepmother of the late Lillie Ramsey, Annitta Burton, and Charlene Benna.
