Malinda (Linda) Sue Smith 66, of Springfield, Ohio quietly took the hand of an angel and was guided home on Thursday, March 2, 2023. Linda was born in Springfield on September 3, 1956, to Joanne and Warren Craig.
She moved around a lot when she was growing up. After a 12 year stay in Florida, Linda decided to move back to Ohio permanently in 2011 to be closer to family. She loved to work and often talked about how she couldn’t wait to get back to her job. Linda was very punctual, always first to show up. When there was a truck load of freight waiting for her to stock, she was happiest. The customers Linda encountered everyday (mostly) made her smile, and the couple that did not, gave her a good story to tell. She was a firecracker, tiny yet mighty, and a force to be reckoned with, but it really did make her happy to help people. Linda touched the lives of all those that ever knew her and/or worked with her.
Linda collected lighthouses and had them sprinkled all throughout her home. She took immense pride in creating a warm and inviting home. Linda loved spending time with her girls and grandbabies. She was always up for a good game of Euchre, or to sit around a bon fire in the summer. Although she was from Ohio, Linda's heart always yearned to be back in Florida. She loved the warmth and sunshine and the sound of the ocean. Linda always talked about taking us all to visit St. Augustine, so she could show us all her favorite places. We will be sure that her last wishes are honored, and she gets to rest under the warm rays of St. Augustine again.
Linda leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Joanne Earles; two daughters, Kelli (Gregg) Inskeep, and Kandee Smith; four grandbabies: Tyler Newman, Addison Inskeep, Kade Lowe, and Rhiley Lowe; sister, Peggy Cofer; as well as, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and many friends.
We will all miss her very much and our lives will forever have a void. We know the place she now calls home offers no pain, only sunshine and wellness, and that brings us all a little peace of mind.
