Mary Catherine Gentry

Mary Catherine Gentry, 92, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. She was born December 2, 1925 in Stanford, Kentucky to the union of James Faulkner Stewart and Marie Elizabeth (Peyton) Stewart. Mary graduated with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Wilberforce University. She was a former teacher of 30+ years with Cincinnati Public Schools, Princeton City Schools and a member of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research in Cincinnati, Ohio. She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons, Richard W. Gentry III of Morrow, Ohio and Roger E. Gentry of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren: Melanie (Jamar) DuBose and Monique (Carlos) Cotis, Jason (Katie) Gentry, Christopher (Jenny) Gentry, and Cortni (Sean) Rice; and 13 great-grandchildren: Jalen and Jordan DuBose; Darrien, Kevin, Mica and Isaiah Gentry; Junior, Dakota and Jason Gentry Jr; Corryn and Kayleigh Rice; Brooklyn and Eden Cotis. Mary is survived by her dear sister, Hattie Sistrunk, and niece, Joann Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Gentry Jr; sisters, Mattie Hinkle and Phyllis Lee; and brother, James F. Stewart. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Mark A.M.E Zion Church, 9208 Daly Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment: Landmark Memorial Gardens. Final arrangements entrusted to Jerry W. Kinley Funeral Home.
