Mary L. Smith-Mcneil

Mary L. Smith-McNeil, 69, of Springfield, Ohio departed this life on Sunday, September 26, 2021, peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the home of her daughter, Chiquith Smith of Springfield, Ohio. She was born October 25, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee to LeRoy and Mary Walker, Sr. She served in the United States Army and was a woman of many talents. Mary worked for KP Nursing Home, Miami Valley Child Development Center, Masonic Home, CVS, and Springfield Christian, just to name a few. Mary, also known as "Mae Lee", was the life of the party and knew how to make everybody laugh. If she didn't cuss you out, then she probably didn't like you, because she had a mouth on her and wasn't afraid to use it. Mary leaves to cherish her memory: her soulmate of 29 years, Walter McNeil, Jr. of Springfield, OH; her daughters, also known as her Fab Five: Felicia James (Anthony Roberts, Sr.) of Springfield, OH, Regina Long (Dean Long, Sr.) of Columbus, OH, Chiquith Smith, Natasha Smith, and Marilyn Smith all of Springfield, OH; parents, LeRoy and Mary Walker, Sr. of Memphis, TN; brothers, LeRoy (Terryce) Walker, Jr. of Jackson, MS, and Sammy (Cynthia) Walker, Sr. of Memphis, TN; sisters, Nadine Peete of Milwaukee, WI and Rubystein Jackson of Chicago, IL; grandchildren: Jamar Roberts, Anthony Roberts II, Marcus Roberts, Jonathan Roberts of Springfield, OH, Joseph Belle of Columbus, OH, Ericka Belle (Kahleel Akram), Donnell Sammons II (Mikayla Barnett), Mari Smith, Jaineen Smith, TaNiaha Portman, Terriona Portman, and Rahmya Muskeyvalley all of Springfield, OH; great-grandchildren: KaLeaha Akram, Amiyla Akram, Donnell Sammons III, Mi'Nell Sammons, and Messiah Smith all of Springfield, OH; cousin, Darryl "Skipper" Myers; bonus daughters: Tenia McNeil, Dorothy McNeil, Janine McNeil and Heather McNeil all of Springfield, OH; 43 bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Oliver T. Williams and Rev. Donald E. Walker, Sr. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the Springfield Fireman's Lodge, 701 North Bird Road, Springfield, Ohio 45503.
