Matthew Kurt Gannaway

Matthew Kurt Gannaway, 46, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2019. He was born August 24, 1972 in Cincinnati Ohio to Deborah Knueven Gannaway and Robert Kurt Gannaway. A loving husband and father, beloved son and brother, Matthew lost his battle with cancer after fighting the disease aggressively for almost 2 years. He met his wife, Essence, in 2000 while both worked for a medical instrument manufacturing company in Cincinnati; they wed in 2005. They both left great jobs to go on their own and operate a specialty butcher shop, Kroeger and Sons Meats. Matthew, a hard worker and great provider for his family, worked diligently for the family business until he no longer was able due to the physically exhausting work as his cancer becoming more progressive. Leaving the corporate world and working for himself allowed Matthew and his family the time to travel and enjoy life. He loved the outdoors and was adventurous. Matthew shared his love of nature with his wife and children. He also introduced his family to outdoor activities like fishing, camping, hiking and rappelling (something they wouldnt have taken up on their own). Over the course of their marriage, Matthew, his wife, and their daughters enjoyed several vacations, had plenty of adventures and created many memories to look back on throughout their travels. One of his last wishes was for his cremains to be sprinkled all over the world by his wife and daughters throughout their future trips, so that he would continue his travels through them. What an awesome dream! Matthew leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Essence; daughters Nadia, Nina and Nola; two daughters-in-love, Naomi and Noelle; mother, Deborah; brothers, Brian and Thomas; five nieces and nephews; both maternal grandparents; several aunts and uncles; a myriad of cousins and in-laws; and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Christ Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church, 3060 Durrell Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45207 with Memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Repass immediately following at 697 Yorkhaven Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45246.
