Mother Anna Lou Collins, 89, of Springfield, Ohio transitioned to meet her LORD and SAVIOUR, CHRIST JESUS on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Allen View Healthcare Center. She was born in Bourbon County, Kentucky on March 8, 1932, the daughter of the late Edgar P. and Anna T. (Smith) Collins. She graduated from Western High School in Paris, Kentucky in 1951. Mother Collins furthered her education by obtaining an Associate Degree in Applied Business from Clark County Technical Institute in Springfield, Ohio in 1971. Mother Collins began her working career at Mercy Hospital, where she worked as a nurse's aide for 18 years. After getting her degree, she worked at Wilberforce University as a secretary. Mother Collins then worked at Central State University at the campus library until retirement. After retirement, Mother Collins worked at Jobs and More Ministry for a season. She was a devoted member, Church secretary and Sunday school teacher at Crawford's Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor Odell Crawford. In her later years, she became a member of the Center of Redemption Apostolic Church, where she was honored as Mother of the Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mother Collins leaves to cherish her memory: two loving daughters, Constance D. Pelham of Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, and Elder Tracey L. Elliott of Springfield, Ohio; three beautiful granddaughters, Tamille (Tim) Brown of Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, Tenesha (Ryan) Poole of Bowie, Maryland, and Tiffany (Devin) Lewis of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; three wonderful grandsons, Anthony Freeman, Jr., Minister Tyler Freeman, and Travis Freeman all from Springfield, Ohio; and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lena Collins of Lexington, Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins from Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Wallace Collins, Albert Lee Collins, Sr., and Jewell Collins; four sisters, Florence Collins Hinnent, Yvonne Collins, Sylvia Collins, and Edna Collins Coffey. Mother Collins leaves a great legacy behind. Her devotion to JESUS and her fervent simple prayers for her family's salvation, protection, and provision. Mother Collins will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021 in the KINLEY Funeral Home Chapel, 1307 East High Street, Springfield, Ohio 45505. Entombment with committal will occur at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park, 4781 South Charleston Road, Springfield, Ohio 45502. Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
