Naomi Idella Carter, 94, of Springfield, Ohio transitioned to heaven on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Oakwood Village. She was born on May 26, 1926 to the late OB and Bertha Crochran.
She had several careers in her lifetime. Naomi retired from Springfield City Schools and was also employed as an administrator at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Kissel Company, and Hobby Hans. Naomi was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she served on numerous committees. She enjoyed Greeting and Ushering the saints into the Sanctuary on Sunday mornings. Naomi served on many boards in Springfield, Ohio, to name a few JAM Justice Action and Mercy and the City Council. She faithfully worked the voting polls each election term. Naomi was also a certified Notary.
Naomi leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Norman Carter, Bertha (Horace) Mahmood, and Vicki Carter; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Unforeseen departure follows behind her parents, OB and Bertha Crochran; husband, Kenneth Carter; children: Anthony (Tony) Carter, Garrett Carter, and Kenneth Carter, Jr.; sisters, Wilma Channels, Rosa Mays, Marie Crochran, Ruth Mapp, and Lula Jones; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Naomi will surely be missed. She was loved by many. Naomi created the end note after every conversation . . . Love.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1171 S. Yellow Springs St., Springfield, Ohio 45506. Interment: Ferncliff Cemetery.
