Nashena Marie Mitchell

Nashena Marie Mitchell, 38, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky the daughter of Lavonne and Nathaniel Mitchell. Shena was a loving and devoted mother. She loved spending her spare time with family, but most importantly her son, Dionte Mitchell. Shena loved traveling and supporting Dionte along his basketball journey. As a teenager Shena attended Central Church of the Nazarene where she was a member of the teenage choir, Jamming Christian. Shena graduated from South High School with honors and a full scholarship to The Ohio State University where she also graduated with honors. She was employed at Spectrum Cable and while employed at Spectrum she developed a close friendship with Darvina and Gwen. She will always be remembered as a kind, gentle, helpful, and good-hearted person. Nashena leaves to cherish her memory: son, Dionte Mitchell; sisters, Neysia Miller, Nikela (Dwight) Mitchell, and Jaylene (Brandon) Lewis; parents, Lavonne and Nathaniel Mitchell; nephews and niece, Tavon Kerby, Kevon Shackelford, Adriel Mitchell, and Brandon "Jojo" Lewis — who all held a special place in her heart; her closest friends, Gwen and Darvina, her Spectrum family; a very special cousin, Kesha Mitchell; aunts and uncles, Lorna (Anthony) Mitchell, Merl (Harry) Johnson, Chip Derwin Miller, Doug Houston Miller, Margret Mitchell, Melanie Mitchell, Gregory Mitchell, James Mitchell; and a host of cousins, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Napoleon and Elsie Mitchell; maternal grandparents, Houston and Allie Miller. Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at El Bethel Temple, 2049 Clifton Ave, Springfield, Ohio 45505. Burial: Ferncliff Cemetery.
