Neomi H. Reid

Neomi H. Reid, 78, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

On December 8 th 1944, Neomi H. Jordan was born the youngest of eleven siblings in Eatonton, Georgia to the late Charles and Carrie Lou Jordan. She was baptized at an early age. After the death of Carrie Lou, Neomi (at the tender age of 13) and her underage siblings were brought up in the home of Robert & Lindy Farley, who raised Neomi until her marriage with Dorsey Reid (1960-1962). In 1963, she came to Cincinnati and married Andrew G. Huffman; to that union were Andrew and Nathan. Separating from Andrew, she moved back to Eatonton in 1966 where she met Will Adams and her last son, Dominic, was born.

Returning to Cincinnati in 1974, she moved in with her father. Neomi received her GED in 1975 at the Harriet Beecher Stowe School. She started working for Fosters Transformers while attending Cincinnati Technical College to obtain her secretarial degree. Shortly after, she worked for Burke Research for many years. In 1999, she remarried Dorsey Reid and moved to Detroit, Michigan. Dorsey died in 2013, so Neomi moved back to Cincinnati in 2015. Neomi joined New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Damon Lynch III.

Neomi never met a stranger and treated everyone like family, always with a smile and a pleasant greeting. She never minded sharing her faith, her knowledge of plants, and her cooking. Neomi was extremely stylish, dressing to the nines for every occasion.

Death came quietly on August 30, 2023 for Neomi H. Reid. She is preceded in dead by her oldest son, Andrew (Corine). Neomi will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her two sons - Nathan (Icaro) and Dominic; her grandchildren - Dion, Nathan, Dominic, Tameka, Andrew, Andrea, Nehemiah, Andrew, Nicholas, Dasianique, Elijah, and Malik; her god-grandson, Jamahl (Jonisha); and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral service at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at New Prospect Baptist Church, 1580 Summit Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45237. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Vine St. Hill Cemetery.
