Oliver E. Gill

Oliver E. Gill ( "Dr. Gill" ), 91, of Springfield, Ohio departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness. He was born April 23, 1930 in Shelbyville, Tennessee the son of Andrew Jackson Gill and Hattie Lee (Campbell) Gill. He graduated from Bedford County Training School in Shelbyville, Tennessee; and thereafter, served in the United States Army. Dr. Gill was a devoted member of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research in Springfield, Ohio where he served as a faithful Minister and Dean for 61 years. Dr. Gill was the first Dean appointed by the Founder, Dr. Henry Clifford Kinley, of the school (IDMR) in 1960, which now operates internationally. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) in 1993 after 38 years of service. Oliver leaves to cherish his memory: son, David L. Gill of Springfield (formerly of Columbus, Ohio); nieces, Teressa L. (Spencer) Samuel of Columbus, Ohio; Lisa K. (John) Rakestraw, Regan Rakestraw and Camryn Rakestraw all of Springfield; and a host of other relatives, friends and fellow members of the Institute. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters all of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers of Chicago, Illinois; and wife, LaJune (Nicholson) Gill. The family extends its gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Dayton, Blackstone Home Health Care, Area Agency on Aging, the Department of Veterans Affairs; and members of the IDMR for their gifts of love, donations, cards, and phone calls of condolences. Services will be held at a future date at the convenience of the immediate family.
