Patricia Ruth Taylor, 89, departed this life on Thursday, May 21, 2020. She was born to Brack Ingram and Betty Brown on September 22, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized. In her youth she was a member of Rose Chapel, Patsy Ruth subsequently found her church home at Fifth Christian Church where she was a member of the choir. She was a fervent worshipper and ensured her children studied the bible. Patsy Ruth was enamored with all genres of music—gospel, jazz, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, but her gospel roots most closely defined her. She was a member of a gospel group and played the viola. Patsy Ruth instilled music into her children by consistently giving them vocal lessons and music always resonated throughout her home. Her gift of song was passed down from generation to generation resulting in her daughter, Cynthia Armstrong, being an accomplished psalmist. Patsy Ruth's formal education was in Cincinnati Public Schools. She was an avid reader and instilled the importance of education in her children. The seeds she planted manifested and came to fruition in future generations who went on to complete advanced degrees at various universities. She married Tommy Rutherford; and subsequently, married Russell Taylor on March 3, 1984, and remained with him until his sunset in 1998. Patsy Ruth had six children: namely, Dale Rutherford, Robert Earl Rutherford, Steven Michael Rutherford, Cynthia Rutherford, Donald Rutherford, and Marsha Rutherford. Patsy Ruth doted on her children and her grandchildren were the light of her life. She spent countless hours with them and savored every moment. Patsy Ruth had an outgoing, gregarious personality, and penchant for remembering people, as she never forgot a face. She was a multi-faceted, multi-dimensional person reminiscent of a three-dimensional drawing. She was surly, sassy and sweet, but poignantly direct and always spoke her mind. Like a fine wine, she exponentially grew better with time. Life was her mosaic and the world her canvas. She lived her life fully and unapologetically. She always received accolades for her illustrious mane and her illuminating smile. Patsy Ruth flawlessly adorned the latest fashions and high-heeled stilettos were her signature trademark, which she passed down to her daughters and granddaughters. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles and bingo. She was exceptionally lucky in bingo winning grand prizes, such as automobiles on multiple occasions. Patsy Ruth leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Dale Rutherford, Steven Michael Rutherford and Donald Rutherford; daughter, Marsha Rutherford; grandchildren, Sharry Kaylon (Michael) Stewart, Bridgette Antonette Armstrong, Lisa Hickman-Voner, Robin Childress-Rodricuez, Amberly Rutherford, Sephra Rutherford, Tequela Best, Rayna Rutherford, Andrea Benson, Jasmine (Brandon) Hughes, Sofia Rutherford, Anna Marie Rutherford, Derrick Rutherford, and Robert Dula; and a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Brack Ingram; mother, Betty Brown; son, Robert Earl Rutherford; daughter, Cynthia Armstrong; granddaughter, Nikki Yvonne Armstrong; aunts, Martha Brown and Christina Brown; and cousin, Robert (Bobby) Brown.
