Regina Renee Higgins, 62, of Detroit, Michigan passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025. God loaned us Regina Renee Higgins on June 20, 1962, in Springfield, Ohio and from an early age she had a passion for Christ. She also had a passion for celebration in any sense of the word.
She loved all her family and relished spending time with all she was related to. Driven by her passions, Regina would often give her last to help someone anyway she could. Her dream was to own a nonprofit to help the homeless and hungry of her affected community. Regina was dedicated to her walk with God, and later in life matriculating through religious studies and even becoming a quasi-evangelist without the collar by taking church to the people. She shared her difficult journey and expressed how she overcame life challenges through her relationship with God. Regina had a sharp wit and never shied away from giving you a piece of her mind.
Regina was not only dedicated to her walk with God, but also to her community. Often her career path was centered around social services for the community, the elderly, and making the world a better place one action at a time. Regina loved road trips and being outside at festivals, sporting events, and music concerts. She also had an uncanny ability to make friends everywhere she went. Regina's spirit was effervescent and would light any room she was in with laughter and cheerfulness.
Regina's pride in life was being a loving mother to her children. She poured her heart into guiding them with love and making sure they avoided many of the pitfalls of the world. Regina leaves us with an enduring legacy of love, light and joyfulness that will stay with her loved ones for a lifetime.
Regina leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Akiiki (William) English-Hill, Jonathan Wilkerson, Jr.; daughter, Sierra Wilkerson; bonus dad, Ronald E. Griffin; loving sisters, Lynn Kidd, Andrea Higgins, and Kim Moss; brothers, Tony Moss, Loreniza L. Higgins, Jr., and Tony Donnell; seven grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cherished cousins.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Lois O. Higgins; watchful father, Lorenzia L. Higgins, Sr.; and her eldest daughter, Tiffany A. Higgins.
