Richard L. Smith

November 26, 1954 — May 5, 2020

Richard L. Smith, 65, of Springfield, Ohio gained his wings and made his journey home Tuesday, May 5, 2020. He was born November 26, 1954 to Ralph Smith and Wanda Eaches (Shope) of Ironton, Ohio. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. Richard had a passion for painting and spent over 30 years of his life doing so, professionally. He also worked for many years at the C&O Railroad. Richard loved fishing, playing pool, mushroom hunting, arrowhead hunting, and any activity he could enjoy outdoors. He loved living life on the edge and to the fullest, but without ever missing an opportunity to make someone smile. Richard was the most kind and generous man to everyone that came into his life. He never met a stranger and genuinely cared about each person that was blessed enough to cross his path. Richard loved his daughters and his grandkids tremendously, and was always so proud of all their achievements, big or small. The main thing he taught best throughout his life, without evening realizing it, was how to love unconditionally. Richard received the same love in return from many as he made it so easy for people to love him. He is gone too soon and will be deeply missed by each and every one of us. Richard leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Kelli (Gregg) Inskeep of South Charleston, Ohio and Kandee (Greg) Smith of Springfield, Ohio; four grandchildren, Tyler Newman, Kade Lowe, Rhiley Lowe, and Addison Inskeep; five sisters, Carol (Ellis) Bryant of Portsmouth, Ohio, Donna (Robert) Massey of Belpre, Ohio, Betty (Hershel) Pancake, Debbie (Clifford) Crabtree and Faye (Jerry) Hammond all of Ironton, Ohio; two brothers, Paul Smith and Darrell (Linda) Eaches of Ironton, Ohio; and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Smith; mother, Wanda Eaches (Shope); step-father, Frank Eaches; and three brothers, Robert Smith, James Smith and Billy Smith all of Ironton, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
