Robert Lewis Moss Iii

February 8, 1956 — July 10, 2020

Robert Lewis Moss III, 64, of Cincinnati, Ohio suddenly departed this life Friday, July 10, 2020, returning home for Eternal Rest. He was born on February 8, 1956 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Robert and Anna Louise Moss. Early in life, Robert accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Robert attended Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from Courter Technical High School in 1974. He began a successful career with the City of Cincinnati in 1979, retiring 28 years later as a Master Mechanic in 2007. Although he earned the right to simply relax and enjoy the ‘Good Life’, Robert continued with his journey of hard work. For the next 12 years, he cleverly obtained employment with various jobs that all related to his passion for cars and driving. Robert was well-known for his love of cars and racing. As a young child, he could always be found building model cars. In later teenage years, Robert and many other close friends, who were all like brothers to him, often gathered in White Castle’s parking lot on Reading Road for their own personal drag races. He was certified and licensed through the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), resulting in him frequently racing his cars at the Edgewater and Tri-State drag racing tracks. In addition to being a member of the Drag Races United Racing Club, Robert also traveled out-of-state to compete in places such as St. Louis, Missouri. He was proud of his ability to ‘cut a perfect light’ and whenever he won, he would never let you forget it. Robert’s sense of humor was unmatched. Many have often said that he could, ‘Cap with the best of em.’ He even had a different personalized nickname or cap for each of us. Robert was a devoted and loving father who personally touched the lives of many. Although he publicly spoke against the use of social media, he secretly was very proud of his famous viral video, reaching almost 4 million views. No matter if you knew him as Robert, Bob, Rob, Speedoo, Man, Moss, Big Moss, Dad, Pop’s, Paw Paw or “Old School in the Hellcat,” he consistently burned rubber, leaving his mark with us all. Robert leaves to cherish his memory, significant other, Elisha Collier; children, Tara Barwick (Mike, Sr.), Robert L. Moss IV, Leah Moss, Magan (Jimmy) Hughes; grandchildren, Michael Barwick, Jr., LaRiyah Moss, Malaiyah Moss, Elijah Moss, Mishayla Moss, Ashley Moss, Robert Moss V, Austin Moss, and Alani Moss; his sister, Sandra (Muhammad) Springs; brother, Ernie Hines; nephew, Kala (Nikki) Springs; Step daughters, Deja Malone and Lashanda Bridges. Robert remained as family with Bonita Moss and Pamela Moss. He also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
