Roosevelt Brown, Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, May 31, 2018. He was born August 11, 1934 in Summerfield, Louisiana to Albert Brown and Jessie Mae (Stevenson) Carter. Roosevelt was loved by many. He was a very wise, caring, honorable, loving man with a heart filled with kindness. He was a very hardworking person who always put his family and friends first. Roosevelt worked over 30 years at Holophane Machine Shop, where he later retired. He also worked at Hearts Jewelry Store and started what is now Browns Lawn & Landscaping. He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Temple Freemason 33rd degree. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Seavon Brown; sister, Jeanette Traylor and Lurene Brown wife of over 50 years; son, Roosevelt Brown, Jr., daughter, Debra Brown; grandson, Roosevelt Brown III and granddaughter, Antiqua "Panda" Ramey. Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memory, brother, L.C. Carter of Dayton, Ohio; his children, Thomas Brown of Chillicothe, Ohio, Michael (Kim) Brown, Sr. of Greenville, Ohio, Betty Jones, Diann (Bernard) Lenoir, Charles Harris all of Springfield, Ohio, Patricia Owens of Florida and Coy Harris, Jr. of California; precious grandchildren, Michael Jr., Joshua, Moniek, and Lamont; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, numerous relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. in Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to the Jerry W. Kinley Funeral Home.
