Rosie Mae (Mathews) Tate was born on May 7, 1945 to the late Johnnie Mathews and Doris Hill Mathews in Columbus, Georgia. She departed this life on Sunday, January 16, 2022 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rose was born in Columbus, Georgia. Her parents moved the family from Georgia to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1953 when Rose was 8. They wanted to provide their children with a better life and more opportunities. Rose had a great courtship with Fred Tate and later they became Husband and Wife in July of 1965, and the marriage continued until his death. Rose loved her husband and children very much and was a good wife. She loved being a homemaker helping raise her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and doing home decor projects around the house, as well as drawing and later doing puzzles as a hobby. She enjoyed listening to her gospel music, and watching her cowboy westerns. Fred and her often opened their home to many family members and friends. Offering a laugh or even a shoulder to cry on. Rose leaves to cherish her memories, four daughters, Shenandoe Lynn Rogers of Richmond, Indiana, Tracy Marie Tate, Terri Lee Tate, Tammy Lynn Tate of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons, Fred W. Tate IV and Jeremaine Ray Tate both of Cincinnati, Ohio; six granddaughters, Diamond, Ashley, Simone, Angel, Tia, and London; six grandsons, O'Shay, Maurice, Jamar, Jayce, Sedrick, and Jyrell; four great-grandchildren, Rashaun, Kariah, Shyne and Skye'Ari; two sisters, Serletta Thomas, Emma (Alvin) Summerlin, Brother Clifford Mathews; sisters-in-law, Pamela Rogers, Marynell Mathews; and brother-in-law, Rodney (Vickie) Tate; and a host of relatives and friends. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Tate III; father, Johnnie Mathews; mother, Doris (Hill) Mathews; sisters, Marie (Osben) Munlin, Dorothy Tate; brothers, Robert Mathews, LB. Mathews, Lonnie "Piggy" Mathews, Calvin Mathews, William (Dollie) Mathews; sisters-in-law, Audry Tate, Thea Tate, and Carnell Mathews; brothers-in-law, William Tate, Ruben Tate, Jimmy Rogers, and Tommy Thomas. Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM with service to follow at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Vineyard Cincinnati Church, 11340 Century Cir E, Cincinnati, OH 45246. Interment 12:30 PM on Monday, January 31, 2022 Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of KINLEY Funeral Home.
