Sabrina L. Spivey

March 6, 1956 — July 23, 2022

Sabrina Lynn Spivey, 66, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022. On March 6, 1956, Priscilla Spivey gave birth to Sabrina Lynn Spivey. William Thomas was her birth father, but at the precious age of 7 months, Priscilla and Joe Louis Canady united in marriage. Joe Louis Canady proudly took the role of father and raised her as his eldest child. Sabrina, better known as, “Slim” or “Brenda”, accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Hughes High School and worked at White Castles, Kenner Toys in Cincinnati and her last job was at Pyrotechnic Specialties located in Byron, Georgia. She enjoyed life to the fullest. Brenda loved hard and loved her grandchildren the most. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for anyone. Brenda would literally give you the shirt off her back. She loved to cook for the whole neighborhood. You were guaranteed a phone call to tell all that she had cooked and she would ask what time you were coming over. No one would go hungry around her. Brenda loved her music, playing cards, partying, going for rides throughout the community, traveling/moving back and forth to Byron, GA and let’s not forget, her beer! Her favorite saying was, “LIKE NO OTHER!!” Brenda was LOVED BY EVERYONE and her memory will live on in the hearts of her loving children: daughter, Wykeitha Spivey (Steve) and son, Quentin Spivey; mother, Priscilla Canady; 10 grandchildren, Keyleah, Marquize (Re’nee), Stephany, Keiarra, Antwon, Brandon, Lil Steve, Porcha, Paige, and Starseika; 20 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Louis Canady, Jr. (Angela), Anthony Wayne, and William Luther; sister, Dorothy Canady-Drummer (Timothy); bonus sister, Eliza Steele; bonus daughter, Angela Allen (Berdo); godson, Tylee Thompson; favorite nephew, Edward Maurice Bradley; and a host of family and friends. Sabrina was preceded in death by her father, Joe Louis Canady, Sr.; two sisters, Varnita Ann Canady and Sarnelia Michelle Canady-Johnson; and her special sister/friend, Rita Miller. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. with service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Second Baptist Church, 6225 Betts Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224. Interment: Crown Hill Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to the caring hands of KINLEY Funeral Home.
