Sharon L. King

August 26, 1941 — September 21, 2018

Sharon Lynn (Westmoreland) King, 77, of Springfield, Ohio finished her race and her final journey to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:55 pm in her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Mrs. King was affectionately known to family and friends as "Cookie." Those she leaves behind to celebrate her life and to cherish her memories are her children, James L. King, Belinda (King) Thompson, Regina (Brad) Bailey, Pastor Jonathan King, Lisa (Frank) Hearns, and Corretta King; sisters, Inez (Tobie) and James Truss, Rebekah (Becky) and Napoleon Biles; 18 Grandchildren, 41 Great Grandchildren (with a joyous expectation of another Great Grandson) and one Great-Great Grandson; two loving and special nieces, Melissa (Missy) Tanyhill and Nikki Griffin; close friends, Pastor Evelyn Mathis and Ms. Sheila Scott; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. King was a lifelong resident of Springfield, Ohio, a current member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church and a former member of Philips Chapel where she was active as a Deaconess, Stewardess, Usher, and the Hospitality Ministry. She was also a former member of the National Council of Negro Women. She was the 1st African American to manage Cassanos Pizza King and Goldmans Department Store. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James (JK-Jimmy) King; her parents, Wallace and Margaret Westmoreland; brothers, Wallace (Buddy), Stephen (Stevie) and Ashley (Butch) Westmoreland; sisters, June Jackson and Cynthia Lawson; Grandson, Anthony Lamar Jones; and her special nephew, Robert (Robbie) Robinson III. Homegoing services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church (Mulberry Street side). Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Service will begin at 11:00 with interment immediately following at Ferncliff Cemetery. Final arrangements entrusted to the Jerry W. Kinley Funeral Home.
