Teresa Darlene Traci Smoot

Teresa 'Traci' Darlene Smoot, 64, of Springfield passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. She was born January 16, 1955 to Alvin and Beatrice (Dill) Black. She was a loving wife to Nathaniel Tyrone Smoot, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and a dear friend to many. All were very dear to her heart. Traci was a faithful & active member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she loved serving the LORD and participated in multiple ministries. She was employed at Kissel CO in 1986 and retired in 2017 from what is now known as Assurant. Tracis journey at Assurant as Operation Manager was challenging, but very rewarding to her. She leaves to cherish loving memories: her husband, Nathaniel Smoot of Springfield, Ohio; son, Terrance, Sr. (Reilanda) Black of Aurora, Colorado; stepdaughter, Karen Smoot of Lima, Ohio; grandchildren, Ajee, Terrance Black, Jr. and Amber-rei Santiago of Denver, Colorado; step grandsons, Kamren and Kyren Smoot of Lima, Ohio; sisters, Victoria (Sonny) Tolliver of Springfield, Ohio, Helen (Edward) Hawthorne of Huber Heights, Ohio, Sandra (Daniel) Smith of Springfield, Ohio, Tina Black OKosis of Springfield, Ohio, and Amelia (Rodney) Bean of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law,Antony Toms; special sister, Pearl (Larry) Jones of Springfield, Ohio; and a host of other family and friends. Traci also loved her two furry children, Molly and Mandi, who brought her the greatest joy. Traci was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Beatrice Black; four sisters, Shirley Payne, Peggy Fudge Howell, Johnnie Mae Fudge, and Vivian Black Toms. Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 34 West Pleasant Street (Mulberry Street Side), Springfield, Ohio 45506 with funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Jerry W.
