Theresa Valeria Gaston

Theresa Valeria (Elston) Gaston, 63, of Springfield, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2019. She was born February 2, 1956 in Pell City, Alabama, a daughter of Major Elston and Bertha Mae Embry-Heard. She worked as a nurse assistant for many years before retiring from Muncy Corporation. She was a loving mother who loved spending time with family and friends. She loved cooking, doing crafts and spending time with her granddaughter Jayden. She was loved by many. Theresa leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Deadra Gaston-Payne of Springfield, OH, Tamiko Nicole Coleman of Cincinnati, OH and Rita Sherrell Gaston of Springfield, OH; stepson, Michael Merriman of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, Cheyanne, Michael, Jr., Brymar, Wesley Zion, Jayden, and Shikoba; eight siblings, Gary (Alfreda) Embry of Panama City, FL, Lovell (Carmela) Orr of Hinesville, GA, Rose Hodge of El Paso, TX, Danah (Craig) Williams of Atlanta, GA, Mark Orr of Owensboro, KY, Betty Mae Heard, Bobbie Heard of Panama City, FL, and Linda Elston of Lincoln, AL; special family and friends, Betty Jones, Peggy Daniel, Mary Anderson, Ethel Lee Gaston, Faye and Dana Benson, Samantha Burton; the Gaston, McDavid, Coleman, Payne, and Conner families; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie "Roger" Gaston; parents, Bertha Mae Embry-Heard and Major Elston; stepfather, Howard Heard; brothers, Preston Embry and Johnny Lee Orr; sisters, Georgia Pearl Tyson-Ross, Virginia Reed and Shelia Elston. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1171 South Yellow Springs Street, Springfield, Ohio 45506. Interment will be held in the Ferncliff Cemetery, 501 West McCreight Avenue, Springfield, Ohio 45504. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kinley Funeral Home.
