Thurston Norman Kenerly

Thurston Norman Kenerly, 88, of Springfield, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 27, 2020. He was born May 24, 1932 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Leonard and Elizabeth J. (Hogue) Kenerly. Mr. Kenerly graduated from Springfield High School in 1951, retired from International Harvester, and was a veteran of the United States Army. Growing up Thurston was a cross country runner, a singer and avid music lover that enjoyed playing the piano, the guitar, the trumpet, and especially the harmonica as his music ministry to spread the gospel. He attended Church of God Sanctified in Springfield, Ohio where he met his lovely wife, Laura Bell (Long) Kenerly. Thurston was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend. Thurston leaves to cherish his memory: sister, Leonna Cheatum; son, Jon Kenerly; daughters, Jowanda and Holly Kenerly; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Kenerly, Kaine Kenerly, Christopher Kenerly, and William Bonham; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laura; brothers, Carl, Marvin, Paul, Chester, and Elmer Kenerly; sister, Yvonne Hinton; and son, Jeffrey M. Kenerly. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Church of God, 315 S. Kensington Place, Springfield, Ohio 45503. Committal with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in Ferncliff Cemetery. NOTE: Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Ohio Governor and our city officials have set guidelines and procedures to follow during public gatherings of funeral services. These restrictions have been arranged with the family. Please allow the family to have their private time during the services being held at 3:00 p.m. A larger gathering may be held at a future date (to be announced) at the discretion of the family.
