Valerie Denise Hill

Valerie Denise Hill (Gaines), 68, of Cincinnati, Ohio, who loved to be called "Madear" by her grandchildren, departed her loving family on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 28, 1952 to Lela (Kinsey) and Samuel Gaines. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. Valerie attended Hughes High School and graduated in 1970. She later went on to get her associate degree in Science of Nursing, where she practiced as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 40 years. Valerie was known for her love for her family, her love for the Cincinnati Bengals, her out-of-this-world personality, and her passion to help others in need. Valerie leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Derek A. Gaines, Antonio L. Hill, Sr., and Yolanda L. Hill; siblings, Gregory W. Gaines, Sr. and Timothy E. Gaines, Sr.; grandchildren, Terek A. Gaines, Dwight A. Gaines, Juanita C. Gaines, Antonio L. Hill, Jr., Adaijah M. Hill, Kenya D. Jones, Armani L. Hill, Tae'Gan A. Gaines, Shianne K. Hill, and Bryson D. Hill; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends! She was preceded in death by her parents, Lela (Kinsey) and Samuel Winston Gaines; her grandparents; son, Dwight A. Gaines, Sr.; and many friends and family. Memorial service will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at James Temple Annex, 1119 Lincoln Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206.
