Verlon Joshua Lee Bennett

Verlon Joshua Lee 'VJ' Bennett, 32, of Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in Dayton, Ohio. He was born in Sidney, Ohio on April 25, 1987 to Yvonne (Walden) Hammons and the late Arthur Leon Bennett II. He was a painter in Georgia, loved finishing a job and seeing his completed work. Over the past year, he loved traveling all over Tennessee and Georgia with his longtime partner, Gayle, and exploring new places. VJ loved his and Gayle's dog, Joey, so much. His buddy is lost without his dad. VJ had a charismatic way about him like no other. His smile and personality could make you feel like you had known him forever, after only meeting him for five minutes. His love, loyalty and friendship was endless. If he was your friend, he was your friend to the end. Verlon leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Yvonne Hammons; partner, Gaylene Gallimore; sisters, Crystal (Josh) Wriston and Kayla Hammons; brothers, Arthur James Bennett, Arthur Lee Bennett and Roger Young; children, Aidan and Noah Bennett (Savannah Fout), Samantha Ferguson (Kara Ferguson), Kiahna Bennett (Shanika Jones), and Arielle Bennett (Windy Bennett); paternal grandmother, Doris Brown; aunts, Chanda (Don) Volz, Yvette (Roy) Young, Verlonya Walden, Marietha (Andrew) Esparza, RayLynn (Dallas) Sarris; uncles, James (Alisha) Moses, Vancil (Brenda) Moses and Stephen Bennett; special aunt, Nancy Moses; special great aunts, Alma Ludwig and Mary Taulbee; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friendsall of whom he adored and loved whole-heartedly. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Bennett II; paternal grandfather, Arthur Leon Bennett Sr.; and maternal grandparents, Verlon and Rita Walden. Visitation will be held at 4:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Hilltop Full Gospel Church, 514 Michigan St, Sidney, Ohio 45365 with Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Jerry W.
