William O. Murphy, 82, departed this life on Saturday, February 9, 2019. He was born and raised in Massena, NY to the union Oral J. (Buck) and Mamie A. Murphy. William had two brothers, Patrick and Timothy; and a sister, Cynthia. He was inducted into the Massena Red Raiders High School Athletics Hall of Fame, having been named Varsity Football MVP in his Senior year. A stand-out wrestler, he was undefeated in the Sectional and Inter-Sectional Competitions. William played defense tackle for the Massena Football Warriors, a semi-pro team, and was elected MVP as well. He graduated Syracuse University where he was a top NCAA wrestler. William was a Special Agent in the FBI, where he received a personal commendation from J. Edgar Hoover. He was also a Veteran of the Army Reserve. William finished his career in the Aerospace industry working for companies such as, Lockheed, Krug, and retiring from Select Tech in Dayton, OH. He married Barbara Raymond of Ogdensburg, NY in 1958 and had three children. William was active in the American Veterans and Moose fraternal organizations, where he served as administrator for the Crystal Lakes Moose Lodge for many years. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Shawn and Darryn; daughter, Misty; five grandchildren, Sarah, Tony, Pam, Lauren, and Morgan; two brothers, Patrick and Timothy; and a host of other loving family and friends. William was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and sister, Cynthia. Services pending.
